Palm Beach Gardens is a relatively new city in Southern Florida. It was established in 1959 by businessman John D. MacArthur, who wanted it to be a city known for its beautiful landscaping. To prove his commitment to this vision. MacArthur paid over $30,000 to move a 60-foot Banyan tree to the corner of Northlake and MacArthur Boulevards in 1961. A year later, he moved a second tree to the same location.

Today, Palm Beach Gardens remains dedicated to lush landscapes and vegetation. The city also takes advantage of its warm weather with the Gardens GreenMarket at City Hall Municipal Campus. Home to the PGA headquarters and 12 golf courses, this city has hosted the Honda Classic, Senior PGA Championship, PGA Championship, and Ryder Cup. North Palm Beach was also established by John D. MacArthur just a few years before Palm Beach Gardens, in 1956. It is smaller than its southern neighbor, with less than 15,000 residents.

Historic Clematis Street in the heart of downtown West Palm Beach is a great place to walk and take in the sights.
